Purple Shields :>

Share

In October of 92, I was living in a nice apartment in H.B. California with some good friends as roommates. One of them, who everyone called Chaos, was pretty heavily into psychoactive drugs. He introduced me to nitrous, DxM, and finally LSD. This is the story about LSD (acid).

The title of the story is "Purple Shields". For those that don't know, LSD is normally "named" after the artwork on the tabs, which are little squares of blotter paper that have been soaked in the LSD. Normally, they're decorated with all kinds of cool artwork. In any given area, there's various ones usually available, and those in the know, know which is the best/most potent. Well, in our area at this time, Purple Shields were it. They were the strongest, purest, most mind-fucking LSD available.

The other roommates were away for the weekend, just Chaos and myself were going to be in. We bought the tabs from Chaos' connection - 4 of them since he was going to dose too and could handle 3 (!!!), and waited for night to come. Finally it did, and the trip started.

I put the tab on my tongue, just a tiny square of blotter paper. If you've never seen one, you'd be surprised how small these things are. After several minutes, it dissolved. Chaos had dropped 2 tabs. I didn't like the idea that he was dosing too -- I'd heard first-timers are better off with a sober "babysitter" -- but I really wanted to try this, so I did anyway. We drank a lot of orange juice as citric acid is rumored to intensify the effets, and waited. 10 minutes went by and I was thinking (maybe even said it) "this is bullshit, this tiny piece of paper won't do jack shit..." and then I looked at the chandelier in our dining area, and its shadow on the wall. The chandelier looked totally normal, but in its shadow, the arms were moving. It had kicked in hardcore.

The next 10 or 12 hours went by both very slowly and very quickly; LSD will do that to you. I had very, very strong visual and auditory hallucinations during the experience. I could hear very, very clear voices talking to me. The visual hallucinations were very vivid and clear. I remember standing at the top of the stairway to the 2nd floor of the apartment (where the bedrooms were), looking down to the bottom floor, with my arms forward, and the stairway and my arms repeated visually to inifinty, just over and over and over again like a mirror trick. I remember laying on the floor, staring at the carpet and it had a hardcore, deep, 3d effect, and it had almost infinite depth, and was seemingly breathing. I remember watching the housecat run around the apartment, and I could see its every position for quite some time because of the "tracers" you get with LSD. It was like the cat was in 10000000 places at once.

The next morning, it had worn off, and all was well, though I was feeling a little weak. Nothing major though. I had no bad experiences, even though I had no "babysitter". LSD is not for everyone, but neither is it the evil drug the media and the government would have you believe.
