Boy, Was I Blind...

Share

Don't you hate it when you meet a girl who seemingly looks like all you could ever hope and dream for, then turns out to be a big fake? Yeah, that's what I experienced two years ago. I met this girl... Let's call her Jemima. I may not care for her, but I don't want people to recgonize her. Anyways, Jemima and I went to the same school and I had liked her for quite some time, but she had a boyfriend so I thought things would never happen between us. Eventually, however, she dumped him (because he was a jerk, supposedly) and told me that she liked me. So we started going out. And it was glorious. We went places together and hung out all the time. She was a very... Frisky girl. I guess most guys would appreciate that and I did, at first.

After a while of doing small things (such as oral sex, but no intercourse), I felt terrible. This, however, did not diminish my "love" for her. We seemed to be hitting it off really well, and we were even talking about going to college together. But 3 months later, she dumped me. For no reason whatsoever. Well, she gave me a reason, but it didn't make sense. She said she wanted to "focus on school and other activities." Well, that was a lie because a couple months later, she had crushes on a couple of other guys. That didn't help my self-esteem any. Also, a couple of days after we broke up, she told me about all the guys she had gone out with. I felt not like a person, but a statistic. I was number 21, in her mind. After she broke up with me, it's like a spell was broken. 3 months had gone by and I hadn't really paid attention to the other people in my life. So, after the fiasco, I believe I became a better person. I recgonized the people around me more; my family and my friends. They helped me through, what I like to call, my "Dark Ages."

As the years have gone by, I've forgiven her. Maybe she feels that I did something to her, but if I did, I really can't remember and I'm sorry. I don't think I did, though. She herself, sdmitted to me that she wanted us to try again. But if I did that, she would have probably done the same thing again when she saw some cuter guy than me. I suppose in the broad scheme of things, it doesn't matter now, but it really felt good to write this. Now I'm with a wonderful girl who I love and adore more than anyone. And we've been together for 8 months today, actually. It just goes to show you that life goes on. No matter how bad you think you've got it at the time of a breakup, life will continue.
